How much does a web site cost?
konnichiwa-japan is a web design consultancy, and as such, we charge by the hour for our services. The cost of a website will vary from project to project, and in fact from customer to customer. The same website will cost much less for the customer who devotes plenty of time to the planning process beforehand, arranges all content ahead of time, and makes no changes to the project scope once work has begun. The customer whose planning process starts at the time of contracting with us and involves multiple decision makers resulting in multiple meetings, or who is unable to gather content before the project begins, will need to allocate considerably more time and budget to get the same website.
We accept projects starting from ¥600,000 yen. A website of this scope would be built on the Drupal CMS (Content Management System), feature multilingual capability, and include standard functionality such as an overview on the Top page, Services or Products pages, About Us page, Contact Us page with contact form and a Blog page. On average it would entail about 15 hours of Project Management, 20 hours of Art Direction, and 40 hours of Technical Direction based on the rates below:
Project Management: ¥8,000 per hour
Art Direction: ¥8,000 per hour
SEO Direction: ¥8,000 per hour
Technical Direction: ¥8,000 per hour
Customer Service & Support: ¥6,000 per hour
When work begins on a new project or maintenance request, we submit an estimate of the time required for the project or task and create the work scope and contract (if applicable). Once the estimate is accepted and contract signed we begin work and tracking of our work time. On completion of the project or task the project manager exports the timesheet to an automatically generated invoice which is then sent to the customer. For customers wishing to monitor the time worked and status of the project we can send an Excel timesheet report on request. This system ensures fair and accurate billing with no surprises.
