Package Design/NPO Otaki Tourism Association

We recently finished the package design for the new product “Otaki Aronia Soft Caramel”, which is made from Otaki Aronia berries, produced by the Otaki Tourism Association (NPO). Aronia berries are a health food which contains double the amount of polyphenol compared with blueberries. Not only do they maintain good eyesight, but also help the circulation of blood and help prevent hypertension.

Even though the history of Aronia is still young (only about 30 years) in Japan, Aronia is becoming more and more known through products like “ Aronia Juice”, “ Aronia Jelly“, “Aronia Candies” and so on.

With the hope that this product becomes a long seller, we carefully thought about a design which will not only last through seasonal trends, but will also make a lasting impression on consumer’s senses.
(Design Concept) Complementing the image of Aronia, for color we used a pure pink color mixed with dark purple, and an illustration of Aronia berries. Furthermore, we created a Japanese style “kamon” (traditional family symbol) symbolizing snow, which is typical for the Otaki area. This traditional symbol with the characters of “Otaki” inside creates a sense of high-class, quality and elegance.

On its first day of sales, it was featured in the Muroran newspaper.
