Here at konnichiwa-japan we are big supporters of open source. One of my most-often used open source pieces of software is the Firefox internet browser made by Mozilla. Not only is it open source, but it has a variety of very useful plugins.
Naturally living in Hokkaido, we are also big supporters of the Shiretoko Natural World Heritage site. Shiretoko is a nature preserve in northern Hokkaido and one of the most beautiful areas in Japan.
Now, as part of the launch of Firefox 3.5, Mozilla has launched the Discover Shiretoko website at http://www.discovershiretoko.org/. I highly recommend that you have a look at the site, and learn more about this wonderful area. I also recommend trying out Firefox 3.5. I've been using it for a couple of days, and even though it is still in the testing stage, I've been very happy with it.
